Our Lady of the Paintbrush: Ode to the Boob

This is a work-in-progress exploration of the boob.

Emilia Javanica

Performance artist and current M.F.A. candidate at the School of Art and Design, University of Michigan. With a B.F.A. in Theater, Emilia spent four years living abroad in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where she studied mask dance with Didik Nini Thowok and participated in a variety of interdisciplinary art collaborations. Emilia's work blends elements of theater and performance art, puppetry, experimental dance, object manipulation, costume design, film and sculpture.

May 2009, 'Mari(e)-Mari(e)', contemporary fashion and dance collaboration with French fashion designer Marie Labarelle, French dancer Marie Barbottin, Indonesian fashion designer Nita Azhar and Indonesian dancer Fitri Setyaningsih. Part of 'Musim Semi Perancis' by LIP (Lembaga Indonesia Perancis), performed at Sasanti Restaurant and Gallery, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
January 2009, 'Potret Manehna', experimental opera which combined traditional Sundanese gamelan and European opera, with a contemporary twist. Performed for the opening of Syang Gallery in Magelang, Indonesia.
